BOND/360 ACQUIRES SOUND OF REDEMPTION
New York-based distributor Bond/360 has taken the worldwide rights to the documentary Sound of Redemption: The Frank Morgan Story.
The NC Heikin-directed film chronicles the life of alto sax player and Charlie Parker protégée, Frank Morgan (pictured). The doc traces Morgan’s progress from teenage musical prodigy to all-star player, junkie, and, ultimately, jazz legend.
The distributor is to launch the doc internationally this year. The film has so far screened at the IFC Center in New York and the Laemmle Theaters in Los Angeles.
“This beautiful documentary is an amazing testament to the power of music, and we are extremely excited to share Frank’s story with people all over the world,” said Bond/360 COO Elizabeth Sheldon in a statement. “As Bond continues to focus on the art and culture space, this acquisition furthers our presence in the international marketplace for high-quality non-fiction films.”
Sheldon negotiated the deal with the film’s executive producer, Michael Connelly, and Heikin. The all rights release will include theatrical, community screenings, an educational campaign, a digital launch and home video sales.
The distributor will shop the film for international buyers at this weekend’s MIPDoc market.
